Woody has been ready for a big boy bed for ages. He has been able to climb out of his crib for well over a year. He rarely does it and when he does it's very safe looking. (I've peaked in and watched the baby ninja) I have resisted changing Woody's bed from a cage, I mean crib, to a big boy bed because he is definitely one of those kids that will come out 47 times with a variety of reasons to delay bedtime. I have very little adult time and I treasure those few hours with Conor before we both fall asleep. Elwood currently goes to sleep without any fuss in his crib and I just wasn't ready to change the plan and give him the freedom to just join us because he considers himself an adult as well.
We made the call to change his crib into a big boy bed a few weeks ago because Elwood is potty trained now and most nights he needs to use the bathroom and with my growing belly it is getting more and more difficult to lift a sleepy, heavy almost 3 year old in and out of his crib.
BBB Update: We switched his bed about a month ago and it has been a fabulously smooth transition. Surprisingly, he does not come out to join us after we put him to bed. We do get called in quite a few times for water, bathroom breaks, extra hand holding, extra hand holding for Teddy, etc. but none of that is new. Woody has really embraced his new "big boy" lifestyle. He ended up in the bean bag almost every night for about a week but since then he has figured out how much he can flip and flop and he stays safely snug in his bed.
This guy is ready for a change! |
Sleeping peacefully. Our little big boy. The bean bag is a safety catcher. The tile is hard. |
