Tohi's quarantine birthday bash

Making homemade whipped cream!
Side note:  those are biodegradable balloons hanging in the background! My kiddos are crazy for balloons but the single use plastics are just the worst so I special ordered earth friendly ones! They are totally awesome and stayed inflated way longer than regular balloons! Wins all around!

this sweet birthday girl got a waffle maker for her birthday!

after waffles, we went on a skateboard ride at a park near us

after our skate we did some "clay-to-go" projects from the local pottery studio.  The kids made the most adorable ice cream bowls.

It felt a little bit like my birthday. . . playing with clay with my favorite people!

thinking of a wish. . .

Birthday Interview with Tohi

Happy 5th Birthday, our little Tohi Bird.  We all just love you so much.  You bring so much love and fun to our house.  You are a kind, thoughtful, get along, fun, hilarious, confident, caring, awesome little girl.

You started VPK this year and you loved it.  It was a short stint in the classroom due to the pandemic but it was so adorable to hear you talk about your class work and your new friends.  You loved going and learning and you especially loved all the art! I hope you love Kindergarten as much as you loved your short time in VPK!

You are a riot.  You are funny and silly and you crack up the family.  And you laugh so easily at yourself.  It is a skill that some adults do not have and you have mastered it.  You have this inner sense of self worth that no one can touch.  You have this playful confidence that is never intimidating or obnoxious, it's just, simply, you know how amazing you are.  If I ever see this special quality in you dim, I will work my hardest to fan your inner light back up to its full flame.  You are a special little girl.

You are my problem solver.  Not only are you the best looker for things in our house but you also can remember where things are or if you've seen them.  Woody wouldn't be able to find a thing without your help. haha Not only are you our best looker but you are my mediator.  You give easily and without resentment.  Most of the time, the games run smoothly because you are easing any tensions that arise.  You share your toys easily and if there is something you do want , you usually offer up a fair trade.  A lot of the time you just give in to keep the peace.  What's funny, is that most of the time, you really don't care that you have to give the toy/stick/soup/etc to the other kid.  You almost look at them as if to say "What is the big deal? Why are you stressing out?" However, I just had a talk with all the kids that just because Tohi is nice doesn't mean you guys (Woody and Frances) get whatever you want because you are being difficult! You guys have to be nice like Tohi TO Tohi sometimes!

You started doing gymnastics in Jax and you loved it! When things start to open back up, you are really looking forward to starting a gymnastic class again.

You love to swim.  You recently got very confident in the water and you just want to be underwater the whole time.  You like to have underwater tea parties and underwater dance parties.  You are a great little swimmer!

You love to bake and cook with me in the kitchen.  If you see me in there cooking, you come in and ask, "What can I do to help??" You LOVE our sourdough bread.  You like helping make it at times, but you really love to eat it!

You love to draw, paint, and play with clay.  You are pretty creative with your drawings and I love watching what uninhibited creation you come up with next!

You are such a good friend to Woody and to Frances.  Both you and Woody and you and Frances can get lost in your own worlds.  You and Woody playing some adventure game outside or you and Frances playing quietly in your room together.  You are a fun, get-along, creative friend to have.  You laugh easily and make games more fun!  You love to sing and to dance.  You are a great bike rider and getting to be a pretty fantastic skate boarder!  You are just an awesome little friend to have around.

You are a very special light in our lives.  We love you so much, our little Tohi girl.

Quarantine Days

Happy Easter!

Oma had a birthday surprise for Tohi!

Donna is selling the farm (which has been an emotional decision for her) but it works out for us that she wants to get rid of some furniture! Bunk beds for the girls!

We got Tohi's "black and white" school pictures back and I can't even with the cuteness!! I ordered a wallet size of each one because I could not choose just one! haha!

mani/pedi time

Pops and Grammie sent us some awesome games for Easter.

Just when I start to think she is such a big girl, I see a picture like this.
She is still our little baby girl.

Beach Bunny!

Conor has been working over nights at the hospital.  Frances wanted to join him for one of his naps.

another amazingly adorable dress from Oma!

Birthday Fairies from Grammie are getting a lot of love and attention

This gardener is never too busy to open a letter from a pen pal.  Woody has been writing letters (mostly so he can receive letters) to family and friends.  It's really cute.  It helps him work on his writing and spelling and he loves checking the mail to see if anyone has written him back.

I think I may be a little young to feel this way. . . but I could wear either overalls or a moo-moo everyday.

For Tohi's end of the year VPK project, she was asked to build something and take a picture for her class project. She decided to build a fairy house.  It's hard to see in the picture but there was a lot of detail and love put into it.

what fairy house would be complete without an orange peel fire pit??

me: "go outside and put your bathing suits on"
**lots of giggling**
and then I come out to these cuties
