Wood Man Turns 6

Starting his birthday off with a fire and some ginger ales.  Cheers to 6!

Woody's birthday fell on the same day as swim class.  He got to swim with his buddies and we brought cupcakes.  What a day!

His good friends, three brothers that live near us, brought him presents in the afternoon.

This big kid is learning about money and loves going to the store with Dad and buying his own mints.  He asks for his treats and the prices in spanish and then proudly produces the correct amount of money (well, most of the time).  We thought it was high time he had a big kid wallet, with $6 inside.  Happy Birthday, buddy.  That is going to buy a lot of mints.

Waiting for his birthday cake.
Ordered weeks in advance: vanilla cake, chocolate frosting, lots of M&Ms.
Got it, my sweet boy.  I can do that.

Although those look like Roman Candles, they are, in fact, birthday candles.

Thinking hard about what to wish for

He told me later that he "wished he could be a dinosaur."

Oh, just stop it.  That is just about the cutest 6 year old wish I have ever heard.  I could not love him more.

6 beautiful years.

The next day we went on a family hike to the point of Bastimentos.   Conor's Dad was in town so we had an extra family member helping us celebrate our boy on his birthday hike!

Woody's besties gave him this hat, sword, and very special "power glove."
Tohi got up extra early on Woody's birthday hike day. . . to try on all his special birthday presents.
Too funny.

Tohi was super excited for the family hike.  This is really the only picture of her "hiking."  She "rides" still most days.

Who wouldn't want to carry around this adorable little nugget?

Snack Break

Arrived at the rock pool!

Borrowing the very special birthday hat to shade the sleeping fern

When the swell is bigger, it crashes over the rocks and makes a whirlpool

No whirlpools today but the kids got some good splashes

I did get to dip my feet in while holding little Frankie

The point is majestic looking.  It has this feeling of being from a different time.  As if a T.Rex is going to come ploughing through the jungle at any moment.

Off to the next swim spot

This whole "being happy to just splash around in the shallow, safe water" lasted about three minutes.  When she noticed how much fun Woody and Tohi were having playing out deep,  she knew that's where she was suppose to be as well.

"I'm on my way, guys!"

Really, Frankie? Diving into the water?
Is that necessary?  You're a non-swimmer.

Just LOVING every minute!

Birthday Dinner cooked over an open fire.  The Birthday Boy's favorite type of cooking.

Mother Nature gifted us a beautiful sunset to wrap up a beautiful day celebrating a very, very special little guy
