Quarantine in Key West
Conor was covering some shifts in Key West and we went with him! It's a "workcation." Conor works and we 'cation. Poor guy.
The Keys were much more locked down than our community in Indialantic; and I get it. The closest trauma center is in Miami, 3 hours to the north. Because its "Key West" people do not think of it of a rural area but it is very much isolated from the mainland. Everything was shut down and every place had a "mandatory mask" policy. I did not have masks for the kids so until we got some, we respected the community by wearing shirts over the kids faces during our bathroom break at the Marathon Publix.
the park by our apartment was open but the other parks in Key West were not.
we did some yoga and meditation in the mornings. I know I am suppose to be meditating too but I peeked to just make sure everyone was ok and I just had to take a picture of this sweet little girl.
we had a "tropical surge" go through while we were there. The kids were playing spies and taking notes. Their notes were of rain, puddles, and chickens. haha!
the rainbows were still there when we got home!
Fort Zack had just opened. It was a gorgeous day and we had the beach completely to ourselves.
hanging with some old friends out on the water. Key West at its best!
Conor got a lot of these types of videos while he was at work. haha. But Frances really showed some big improvements while we were there. She started with floaties on and ended being able to use her goggles and swim with her eyes open without any floaties by the end of the week. She couldn't wait to show her Dad.
The streets were almost empty of cars. The kids were easily able to skateboard down to Mallory Square. Mallory Square was eerily empty with only a few mask wearing bums hangin about. It was an experience all in itself to see Mallory Square empty at sunset.
T
Mallory Square about 20 minutes before sunset
We had some AMAZING private street performers that night!
the Truman Annex park and splash pad was closed but the sidewalks were wide open!
Just because the park was closed that didn't stop these three from finding something to climb on! haha
