Later, after he had moved all the wood from outside to the porch with "his workers" he asked for some money so he could pay them. 

The parrots are still around.  Their wings have not fully grown back but they are able to semi-gracefully fall off the porch to hang out in the trees in the front yard.  It is a loud thud every time they land, I'm surprised we haven't seen any injuries. 

Sometime Elwood tries to wrestle Tohi or smashes his airplanes into her head.
And other times, he lays calmly next to her and holds her hand.
