couch project

Conor made this couch when we first moved in.  Since then, the kids have grown and we added another member so movie nights are starting to feel a little crowded.  We've decided to add on. Conor's plan was to make another couch pretty much identical to this one and then we would make it an "L" shaped couch.

so many helpers.
I'm not sure how we got anything done prior to having children. They are just so helpful.

Helper Tohi is busy checking Dad's measurements. . .  meanwhile her helper partner is looking to taste the wood glue.

I stopped taking pictures and scooped Frances up right before that glue covered finger went into her mouth. haha!

Dad is so amazing sometimes we all just like to watch him work.

and, of course, help him work

the new couch is going to have shelves under it for all the toys.  In the meantime, the sisters are having a blast with the "new dollhouse Dad is building!" haha!

we have to pull the other couch out on the porch in order to get the new couch in and check measurements etc.  This kids are loving a porch couch.  We might just keep it out there!

One couch transformed into an "L" shaped couch. So, if I am being honest.  We don't love it.  It's kinda big to have it in an "L" shape.  Something, of course, we couldn't know until it was practically finished and there was no turning back at that point. haha. So, for movie nights we have it like the above picture and we all pile in and everyone has enough room but other times we play around with the location of the couches.  Both couches are on wheels so they are super easy to push around.  Sometimes, we have an "L" shaped couch then sometimes we have a "kid couch" next to the stairs and an "adult couch" pulled away so it stands alone where we originally had the first couch.  Overall, we love the extra space we just don't totally love both couches in the corner of the room.  We think we might change the set up of the kitchen in the future and that will affect the energy of the "couch area."  We obviously have a lot of interior design thoughts haha! Who knows. . .  we might even put one couch on the porch! Couch on wheels. . . it's perfect for people who can't make up their minds!
