Since the whole country relaxes on Sunday, so do we. Nothing but family fun exploring around.
A few Sundays ago we went to Red Frog.

Tohi sleeping much more comfortably |
There's a sleeping little peanut buried under there staying safe from the sand flies |

Overall we had a very fun day but I was a little disappointed in Red Frog. It just felt very tourist-y. It's a pretty pricey water taxi ride to get there, you have to pay as soon as you get off the boat to gain access to the path to the beach. The money, hopefully, is going to continued protection of the land, as the sign states. (But there seems to be a whole lot of started development and not a whole lot of conservation.) The locals know that the people that go there have money to spend. It was a cloudy day and we were practically the only ones at the beach. We sat by/in some broken ass chairs for a few hours and then a local guy came by and told us to pay him $5 for each chair we used. Conor said no and then the two of them just stared at each other. Not hostile or anything, just a good old fashioned look at each other and don't talk until someone gives. The guy just walked away. Besides everyone trying to get a piece of the tourist pie, the place is gorgeous. The walk to the beach and the actual beach are beautiful. The water is clean and pretty. We all, especially Woody, had a blast playing in the waves.
I'm on a search for the perfect family beach. I want waves for me and Con to surf but calm enough that Woody can still snorkel. I want a little structure so there is stuff to see when snorkeling but still sandy enough to be safe. I need some shade for Tohi, no sand flies, and maybe a chill, friendly bar that sells cheap beers and awesome ceviche (Bar is optional, but everything else is needed)
So, each Sunday, the search will continue!
